Basic obedience and structure are a big part of having a strong, balanced relationship with your dog. It teaches your dog how to act under different circumstances, and establishes a framework for your future relationship. A relationship where you set goals and expectations, your dog meets those goals, and your dog gets praise and rewards. It also helps fearful or less-confident dogs by giving them predictable patterns of behavior to follow. If your dog always knows what behavior is expected it is easier them to succeed and their confidence will grow substantially as a result.
