History of Reliable Painters It started in 1972 I started my career as a house painter on August 4, 1972 under the employ of a German master painter, Herman Brummer. Herman was an independent painting contractor in the city of Penticton, British Columbia. Although I had found some small painting jobs—working alone—in early 1972, I had no training. Beginning in August and continuing for five years, Herman and his son, Gerry, gave me an apprenticeship in the painting trade. It was an extensive and diverse experience, for which I have always been grateful. Our work included commercial contracts and residential repainting. We worked on interiors and exteriors. We completed fire restoration and hardwood floor refinishing, including the painted lines for sports. I remember that we once painted an outdoor swimming pool!
