History of Reliable Painters It started in 1972 I started my career as a house painter on August 4, 1972 under the employ of a German master painter, Herman Brummer. Herman was an independent painting contractor in the city of Penticton, British Columbia. Although I had found some small painting jobs—working alone—in early 1972, I had no training. Beginning in August and continuing for five years, Herman and his son, Gerry, gave me an apprenticeship in the painting trade.
